Looking through some stock photography for a publication at work and I came across this. The description says “Supercharger, air compressor on a car hood”. Any idea on make of the unit and what vehicle it’s bolted to?

I’d say it’s not so much “on” as “through”. Some kind of t-FWD four-banger - don’t know what.

It’s a FWD car, so I’m thinking something 3800 powered, like a Pontiac Grand Prix or Monte Carlo, or something along those lines?

Looks like an Eaton M62 or M90 based on the snout?

Speaking of stock photography... There’s this.
And this.
And this.

Wasn’t the 3800 a V6? That’s an in line 4

Here’s another angle. It’s hard to tell.
I see hoses running to/from that box in the front, so I’m thinking that might be a air-water intercooler. Looks like 4 cylinders.
The guy who submitted the photographs has no other shots of it in his portfolio.
The photographer is also from Russia, and published his email address in his profile if we can’t figure this one out.

Yeah, the 3800 was a V6. I think you might be right, that it’s an inline 4. The Ecotec 2.0 used an Eaton M62 supercharger for a while. So maybe it’s an Ecotec?

Found another one, looks like the same car, different angle.

After spending WAY too much time searching, I finally found it. It’s a Jaguar AJ-V8 .
There are many variants of this engine found in many vehicles, many have different styles of intake manifolds and intercoolers, and many of them are shrouded in plastic.
These pics of an ‘06 S-Type R
come the closest, though the intake is smooth rather than ribbed.
Here’s another S-Type R, with the black plastic cover removed. It seems earlier models had smooth intercoolers with “SUPERCHARGED” written on them which this owner decided to paint black :
And another one in a hot rod , showing the left side, just as we see it in OP’s pic:
Now, it might be from another Jaguar model or even a Range Rover, but I can’t find any better pics with the covers removed than the ones above.

Did the ever mount that engine transverse in anything?

Not that I’m aware of. I don’t think so.

This must not be it then, because the engine in my photo is definitely transverse (see the pulley on the supercharger).

Really, you don’t see the identical details? Apart from the differences in smooth and ribbed intake plenums & intercoolers, I thought the similarity was obvious. Since Kinja shrinks reply pics now, here’s some higher-res links : 1 , 2 , 3 .
I agree it is transverse in your pic, but wouldn’t you agree that it’s a custom fitment, poking through the hood and all?
and the engine in your photo is definitely swapped into a car that it didn’t originally belong to.
I found that the version found in the supercharged ‘06-’09 Range Rover Sport has the ribbed intake plenum.

Good point, I didn’t think about it being a swap. But that makes sense. Jag wouldn’t have an engine poking through the hood.
